Founded in 2024 as a spin-off from the Optoelectronics Research Centre and Optical Engineering and Quantum Photonics Group at the University of Southampton, Smith Optical was created to bring an innovative AR display technology based on wavemixing to market. Offering 100% transparency, daylight brightness and zero eye glow, the new approach solves all the challenges that have prevented the metaverse from being realised.
